Humphead Wrasse
Scientific Name: Cheilinus undulatus
Common Names: Humphead Wrasse, Napoleon Wrasse IUCN Status: Endangered About: One of the bigger fish in Palau; up to 2.5m in length and can weigh up to 200 kg. These fish are sequential hermaphrodites (change gender with age). They are often found near their feeding grounds (reefs). It can protrude its teeth to snap up prey in nooks and crannies or shoot streams of water out of its mouth to force animals out of hiding . |
